The friend who encouraged me to start a blog and got me started saw me in church a couple of weeks ago and said, “Um…what are you doing? You haven’t written anything for your blog. You can’t do that. People are counting on new material. Not good, Henry. Not good.” A verbal butt-kicking.
You may have noticed I have been silent for the last several weeks. And you deserve an explanation. Although there have been several factors in my life I needed to adjust to (including a new kidney stone—poor me) there really is no excuse. I mean that. But my intention was not to blow you off while I went on vacation somewhere. The main reason for my absence is that I decided not to publish WHEN GOD WAS ON HIS KNEES at this time…and believed I needed to at least offer a replacement book. Although WGWOHK was scheduled for a May launch, I felt it still needed a bit more time to let the contents stew and simmer. Because the book contains not just wonderful things but really beautiful and profound theology, I decided not to rush the publication and then regret it later. That happened with WORSHIP THE KING—after it was first published, I still made a hundred edits for the second edition. And, in my opinion, it still needs lots of work! Anyway, I’m really sorry and I should have told you sooner.
So, in a mad attempt to offer another book in its place, I began working furiously on a new book called, THEORY TO FIRE. It has consumed my every waking moment (In a good way, not the manic way). And, THEORY TO FIRE may be the most important thing I ever write. It’s about a return to the cross, to sacrifice, to discipleship and to the mission – for individuals (especially me) and for entire churches.
The good news: I completed a first draft already. Although it looks brutal as is, I now have a few hundred pages to edit and rewrite and will plough full-steam ahead to bring it to completion ASAP. As I said, because I was going to miss the May deadline for WGWOHK, I thought I had to at least offer another book in its place. Unfortunately, I dropped the ball on publishing either of them on time! Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. I do believe God put THEORY TO FIRE on my heart for a reason and my prayer is that it will help fan the flames.
So…back on the blog starting Monday…”DO ALIENS FRENCH KISS?” … and Tuesday…”WHERE DID THE MOON COME FROM?” and Wednesday… “MOM TOOK ACID” Lots of stuff to catch up on…lots of emails to respond to…lots of BIBLE BY HEART sign-ups! It’s true that the ICOC have left the dream of evangelizing the world in this generation. Discipleship
is not an option Henry, but a command in Jesus’s teachings.
If you have left those essentials, then my question is why?
